Alastair Barlow's position is the strongest few minutes on the episode. A vendor that restricts how firms move or use their clients' data has not built a moat, it has built friction. If a firm wants to train a model on its own historic client data to improve its own service, that decision sits between the firm and the client and nobody else.

They agree on the facts and disagree on whether it should be this hard. It ends on a direct call for vendors to get in a room and build a better ecosystem for the firms paying for it.
