Heather Smith sets out where she stands before saying anything else. She has never been a paid influencer for Xero and has never run ads for them. Her surprise is at how many people out there are.
She also has the view from Australia and New Zealand, where nobody knew who the influencer was, and where the country managers have all addressed it publicly. Her read is that they had no idea it was going out.
Ryan Pearcy has no sympathy for the influencer. If you are paid to talk about something and you get it wrong, that is on you. What interests him more is why a fairly small mistake produced a reaction this size, and his answer is that the frustration with Xero had been building for a long time before this week. If this is what finally makes them listen, he is glad it happened.
Indi Tatla asks for some perspective on the person at the centre of it.
