Then the dates. From 1 October the window for bringing an employment tribunal claim moves from three months to six. From 30 October come the trade union reforms, plus a duty on employers to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment, with third party harassment in scope, so customers, suppliers, contractors and visitors all count. From January 2027 the unfair dismissal qualifying period shortens and the compensatory award cap goes.
Her view is that most of this is good and overdue. Work has changed shape, with hybrid arrangements, contractors, offshoring and platform work making employment messier than the law assumed. Her one reservation is whether the union provisions sit comfortably alongside growth.
