QuickBooks plugs into Perplexity. Do you still need a separate tool to check your VAT?

Intuit and Perplexity have announced a partnership that brings QuickBooks and Mailchimp into Perplexity for US users, with Intuit expanding its MCP server so Perplexity can properly interrogate the data. Ryan Pearcy sees it as one more ledger wiring itself into one more AI platform, and it isn't slowing down.

John Toon is surprised they didn't make more of Perplexity itself. It's built around research and showing its sources, and that's where he'd set it apart from a tie-up with Claude or ChatGPT. Ryan points to what the two companies did push: going from research and answers to carrying out actions inside QuickBooks, in one flow.

Then John's bigger question. If this works, does it blow the VAT-checking tools out of the water? An assistant could sit in the background, check every transaction against its sources and flag anything that doesn't look right.
