Getting the numbers to people who will never log in

Joiin has added a proper way to get a report pack out to people who are never going to log into the platform. You share it as a PDF or an Excel file, the recipient gets a code by email and opens it from there. Drill-down is off on shared links, so what leaves the building is the pack rather than the ledger underneath it.

Leigh Stallard's wider point is that the thing which makes reporting useful is not the report. It is how many people in the business end up talking about the numbers.

John Toon's take is that retrospective reporting has been close to a zero sum game for a long time. A P&L is a P&L. The value turns up when the numbers tell somebody where things are going, what is seasonal and what is trending, rather than sitting in a pack nobody opens.

Then the gap. Joiin's last release came with a deck showing exactly where each feature was useful. This one did not, and the risk is that a genuinely good update dies in the inbox because nobody has time to imagine it into their own workflow.
