John Toon sees apps creeping into each other's patch, and wonders whether building a ledger was simply easier than integrating with hundreds of them. Indi Tatla asks what makes a payments company, strong on cross-border payments and card programmes, the right one to do the books, and why the launch is so keen to stress that a 'deterministic' system applies the rules. Ryan Pearcy reckons that's just the word you use now to reassure people.
Ryan's bigger point is that everyone is going after everything because it's so easy to build, and apps that used to be partners are ending up as competitors. It'll be the Wild West for a while, then the ones that work get word of mouth and the rest fall away.
It's US only for now, so no need to get up in arms quite yet.
